1. A friend from the Army tried to justify it to me

He said that army units often have nicknames and slogans taken from pop culture, so the search and rescue unit that rescued the pilot must have had a Pulp Fiction theme so it's ok if they use made up Bible verses from movies in prayers, it's just being patriotic supporting our troops.
