'Idiotic!': Hegseth quotes Pulp Fiction as Bible verse during Pentagon prayer service - The Weeknight - MS NOW

Days after Trump faced bipartisan backlash for his Jesus-like social media posts, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is now comparing the news media to biblical villains.

Chief Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell responded on X: “Secretary Hegseth on Wednesday shared a custom prayer, referenced as the CSAR prayer, used by the brave warfighters of Sandy-1 who led the daylight rescue mission of Dude 44 Alpha out of Iran, which was obviously inspired by dialogue in Pulp Fiction. However, both the CSAR prayer and the dialogue in Pulp Fiction were reflections of the verse Ezekiel 25:17, as Secretary Hegseth clearly said in his remarks at the prayer service. Anyone saying the Secretary misquoted Ezekiel 25:17 is peddling fake news and ignorant of reality.”

Former CIA Director and MS NOW senior national security and intelligence analyst John Brennan joins The Weeknight to respond. - Aired on 04/16/2026.

He said that army units often have nicknames and slogans taken from pop culture, so the search and rescue unit that rescued the pilot must have had a Pulp Fiction theme so it's ok if they use made up Bible verses from movies in prayers, it's just being patriotic supporting our troops.
