A Bill Before Congress to Put the Last Nail in the Coffin of American Science: Write Your Congressperson. [View all]

All of my immediate family, except me, work in Academia. It has come before them that there is a proposed change to Title 2 of the Code on Federal Regulations.

These proposed changes are disastrous.

They include among many other odious provisions:

A ban on funding scientists who are not US citizens.

A ban on the use of grants to cover travel to scientific conferences.

A ban on using grant money to subscribe to scientific journals.

Restrictions on collaborations with foreign scientists.

Restrictions on agreements to vendors, consultants and subrecipients.

A ban on charging publication costs to journals to Federal Grants...etc., etc...,etc...

...all to be administered by the incompetent, ignorant, uneducated, racist thugs who think that holding a wrestling match on the White House lawn on our nations 250th anniversary is high culture.

Collectively these rules are connected with §200.202-206, §200.340-342, §200.432, §200.454, §200.461, §200.220, §200.329, §200.331 §200.332, §200.201, §200.320.

This list may not include all of the proposed changes, all of which would be disastrous, to the Code of Federal Regulations.

The former preeminence of American Science, already irreversibly damaged by the denizens of the orange pedophile in the White House, was built on an influx of scientists who came to the United States from overseas. International collaborations are a key to science.

I CANNOT OVER EMPHASIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF FIGHTING THESE CHANGES.
