There are long passages that are the classic "telling, not showing" which is the bane of fiction writing. He's trying to fill in what happened in this fictional world. It comes alive every time the narrative gets fully involved in the events of the day.

It's not intended to be predictive, but a sort of alternate history.

I sincerely hope many more people read this book.
