12. They can do brain scans for some mental illnesses

But I doubt they will for you. I think it's more something they do after a diagnosis for research purposes. If you do get a mental illness diagnosis you can participate in such studies later if you wish. I think brain scans for diagnostic purposes are still in experimental stages.

But, basically, your diagnosis will depend on an interview or a series of interviews. I wouldn't let that deter you from getting treatment. They get it right most of the time. The treatment is what matters.
