Albeit not as universal as prior decades, there still are, especially comedies, in which a pair of, often two male protagonists, will play up toxic avoidance of any external veneer of affection for each other. "Ha-ha the ubiquitous observers can't perceive we might be gay, yuk yuk."
Fukk that.
I'm recovering from surgery. A lot of teevee and sleep. I just got really good news today: 2nd procedure, no cancer detected. 😅
Yet the scene I caught of two toxic males playing embarrassment of hugging in an emotionally charged moment then humorously putting out the homophobia vibez gave me a "goddammit" moment. Too medicated to recall the show, but damn, Hollywood, get over that.
I'm glad for the atmosphere that takes "his husband" and "her wife" in stride. We've come a ways, but there are still narrow, toxic dipshittery needs to be called out.
The hearings yesterday were fantastic.
But the "reformed" Trumpers in all probability still cling to the damn homophobia members of Pwoud Boiz and Ooth Kreepers swear to uphold.
The last thing our youth needs for an enlightened society is that ilk of casual ostracism, and to fully recognize it as dated and unwelcome.
Oh, and fukk Trumpism.
