Some are for fast food like Tims or McD or A&W. Some are for the grocery stores too (I'm sorry but the UFCW is a piss poor excuse for a union. People start at far less at Save On and Extra Foods than they do at McD's here). There are lots of construction and various skilled trade jobs too that need to be filled.

I'm in the lower mainland of BC outside of Vancouver. I suspect location is why so many jobs are available. You can't live on less than $20/hr here.

On edit: Where my husband works the pay is good and they have an enhanced medical plan and dental. But the work is hard and a lot of people quit quickly. Or fail a drug test.
