in Season 2 set in Paris were marvelous.

Living in North Carolina I have particularly enjoyed the pre Revolutionary War back story. The Battle at Kings Mountain, which is told in Diana Gabaldon's ninth book, Go Tell the Bees I am Gone ( and may or may not end up in the final Season 8) is celebrated by a reenactment group on a regular basis that at one time my husband participated in because of a family member who was dedicated to it.

The show has been a real boon to tourism in Scotland because of the beautiful landscape and marvelous castles/ruins. Lots of history, lots of magical settings.
