Yes the base is a huge housing development that has lots of kinds of housing (I hope subsidized too) and playgrounds everywhere for kids.

Hull and neighboring towns Aylmer, Chelsea and Wakefield were all named after towns near Boston where Philemon Wright, founder of Hull, was originally from. Hull has been renamed Gatineau, Wakefield renamed Lapeche which makes sense since they are on the Quebec side. Eastview is still Vanier, though the city of Vanier itself has been swallowed up by the City of Ottawa as has Rockcliffe Park been, but they still are called by their neighbourhood names.
