4. Thanks! Here's what I used and did...

I used a tripod-mounted Canon EOS Rebel T5i camera for both shots. The T5i is an inexpensive "beginner" camera.

The sun was shot with a Canon EFS 55-250 f/4-5.6, an inexpensive kit lens which was sold bundled with the camera. I used a very dark solar filter, an Ice ND1000000.

The moon was shot with a used Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG Contemporary, a mid-grade and comparatively (to the Canon model) inexpensive lens. I would have used this lens for the sun shot but don't yet have a solar filter that fits.

Both shots were taken in manual mode and manually focused. I used a remote shutter release (USB cable) to prevent shaking the camera.

The sun shot manual settings
ISO 200
250mm
f/9
1/250sec

The moon shot manual settings
ISO 200
400mm
f/8
1/125sec
