The DU Lounge

The Music Director of the Chamber Music series is a composer and the cellist of the Kronos Quartet, Paul Wiancko. He had really big shoes to fill, taking over from Geoff Nuttall after he died from pancreatic cancer. Nuttall was just a brilliant musician and very charismatic in his role as music director for the chamber music series.
The interesting thing I learned this year is that the pianist, Inon Bartanan, is the music director for a similar music festival held in La Jolla, CA -- where I went to high school before that festival began some 40 years ago--but I'd never heard of it, since I haven't lived in CA since 1988 and haven't been back for 10 years.
