The book is much better.The movie didn’t provide the backstory to the main characters/cardinals. They seemed flat to me. It was also so dark, the lighting, or lack thereof made it difficult to see/understand some of the symbolism.
The story line of course was dramatic. I had guessed the plot twist when I was reading.

I think the movie portrayed the pope-elect as a stronger presence than in the book, Also, the issue regarding the medical procedure was not accurate.
The new pope was born isn a small village and the ‘female part’ was deformed so it was just more favorable to call the baby male . They were female, not intersex as the movie seemed to imply. They were female.

It was good, but go read the book.
