It has three of my favorite actors in it: Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci and John Lithgow.
And I love stuff about the hierarchy of the Church. Sounds like fun!

(1,467 posts)The book is much better. The movie didnt provide the backstory to the main characters/cardinals. They seemed flat to me. It was also so dark, the lighting, or lack thereof made it difficult to see/understand some of the symbolism.
The story line of course was dramatic. I had guessed the plot twist when I was reading.

Spoiler !
I think the movie portrayed the pope-elect as a stronger presence than in the book, Also, the issue regarding the medical procedure was not accurate.
The new pope was born isn a small village and the female part was deformed so it was just more favorable to call the baby male . They were female, not intersex as the movie seemed to imply. They were female.
It was good, but go read the book.

(112,474 posts)I love the cast, from Ralph Fiennes, John Lithgow, Stanley Tucci, Isabella Rossellini and others, but I especially enjoyed the little twist at the end.
Yes, definitely... watch until the end. But throughout there are a hell of a lot of messages that really target the current state of political affairs (not only in the US).
Whether or not it is fully accurate to the actual conclave, I'd bet $$ it captures the human interactions pretty well.
