The first time my wife & I watched it together on HBO she kept asking me what they were saying.
In this scene, he's saying it in English & Fabrizio is translating, so she already knew what it meant.
Second, the movie has subtitles.
I think she was testing me to see how much I got. I know during the scene at Louie's when Michael kills Sollozzo & McClusky, there were pieces I needed to hear a dozen times before I got the gist.
