(70,625 posts)The first time my wife & I watched it together on HBO she kept asking me what they were saying.
In this scene, he's saying it in English & Fabrizio is translating, so she already knew what it meant.
Second, the movie has subtitles.
I think she was testing me to see how much I got. I know during the scene at Louie's when Michael kills Sollozzo & McClusky, there were pieces I needed to hear a dozen times before I got the gist.

(70,625 posts)You can tell he's only pretending to listen because he's going to carry out the plan.
Especially after he comes back with the gun.

(9,914 posts)I believe that this is the only safe and non-violent scene that I can share for Carlito's Way.

(19,192 posts)I liked Pacino in "Serpico" as well. I've never seen Carlito's Way, but now I'm going to have to watch it.
Here's another scene that I like from The Godfather, which I think may be the greatest movie ever made. I like this particular scene because when Marlon Brando is at this meeting (beginning at about 2:00), he reminds me so much of my dad that it freaks me out a little. The hair, mannerisms, facial structure, voice inflection, the way he was dressed in this scene, etc. It's like I'm watching my father FFS!

(9,914 posts)I've watched the movie Serpico. I shall warn you, Carlito's Way is more violent than Goodfella's. I don't know if anyone else would agree with me on that but it's a movie that I get sucked into watching when it airs on TV. It doesn't matter how many times that I've watched it.
Thank you for sharing this scene, Lucky! I did watch but I will visit this scene again later too!
