Depending on other things, these high premiums would let them take a deduction for medical if they itemized. They should do a very serious look at what their finances are eliminating everything next year not absolutely needed.

She should not have cancelled because with leukemia she needs health insurance. Putting her husband and kids on a non ACA catastrophic plan while staying on ACA herself might help if they absolutely can't afford family ACA. Doing this is at the cost of taking the risk of paying a lot if any of them have high medical costs. Those plans usually don't cover preexisting conditions.

I don't know if the Republican House plan that has some help for small business owners buying into group plans has plans that cover pre existing conditions. If it does and the Senate and House sign on, that could help them if it is affordable. ( Note large number of ifs )

Given the number of ifs, they might have to consider if either could get a job for a company offering insurance.

All and all, the Republicans have messed up their lives.
