... but it bears repeating: Members of the House and Senate get gold-plated healthcare, and, though they do pay premiums, a cursory search does not reveal how those costs compare to what the average citizen has to pay for similar coverage. But I'm willing to bet they get a much better deal through the FEHB (Federal Employees Health Benefits, or the DC SHOP) than we, The Great Unwashed, could ever have access to.
So, the infrastructure already exists for administering universal healthcare, but corporate greed once again rears its ugly head to roar its promise of vengeance upon any politician foolish enough to propose it.
Tiny countries like Thailand provide better access to healthcare, both to its citizens, and even to tourists that need it, than the richest country on Earth is willing to offer its residents. How does that scan for ya?
And, as a parting shot, note that "CORPORATISM" is what Mussolini preferred to call his form of government. And look where that got him.
