than any Republican at becoming speaker if the vote was held today.

But seriously, that F-minus caucus is in plenty disarray as it is without decapitating that which is already headless. One benefit is that it's another cut in the bleeding blob. It just helps further the narrative that republicans can't govern, at least for a while. Certain Americans tend to be way more forgiving of republicans in the long run. It's the exact kind of favoritism they (wrongly) allege against supporters of Affirmative Action.
