Marjorie Taylor Greene Plots Major Move to Make Fresh MAGA Chaos

Outgoing Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is reportedly plotting a parting blow to wreak fresh hell on an old foe in her party ranks.
The Georgia Republican, due to quit Congress in January, has made no secret of her tense relationship with Speaker of the House and Trump mega-crony Mike Johnson.
She has called for his head in the past, and now, as a last act, shes scheming to bring about his downfall, according to MS NOW. Three anonymous sources said she has been quietly trying to garner support for a motion to oust him as speaker.
Nine Republicans are needed to vacate the chair, and Greene is reportedly considering who would be willing to sign up. Marjorie is approaching members to get to nine who will oust the speaker, one of the sources said. And if we dont get to work on codifying Trumps agenda, anything can happen.

Was thinking "8" but apparently "9" is the number of co-sponsors to put forth a vote to "vacate the Chair" (it had originally been "1" in the last Congress when McCarthy was booted).

But, is that actually part of the rules?

(37,317 posts)At least as far as the misogyny inherent in the Republican establishment and how it affects her personally. Which is usually how the MAGA types fly.
But Ill take whatever I can get and I wish her luck tilting at the meat puppet Mike windmill. I cant imagine how it could be worse without him. I remain assured that the Republicans will find a way.

But seriously, that F-minus caucus is in plenty disarray as it is without decapitating that which is already headless. One benefit is that it's another cut in the bleeding blob. It just helps further the narrative that republicans can't govern, at least for a while. Certain Americans tend to be way more forgiving of republicans in the long run. It's the exact kind of favoritism they (wrongly) allege against supporters of Affirmative Action.

(7,540 posts)No single person has a clear idea of the rules, what moral and ethical guidelines there are that they should follow, no long term end point, no goals to collectively strive for.
Two consequences of that:
1. Small differences of opinion will balloon out to a huge bunfight.
2. The cult will collapse with Trump's demise.
Meanwhile, we can hope for more of the first, and a short time to the second.
Will the Republican party survive the loss of their cult leader?
Not, unless they can reinvent themselves and acknowledge the many mistakes of the past.
