(2,157 posts)It is not complicated. A majority of USPS Governors can fire the PM General. There is absolutely no question about their authority to do so and there are no legal issues with that. Indeed, that is their main job -- to hire the PM General and Asst. PM General and to oversee their plans and strategies. That is what they do.
Biden appointed 4 (including a Republican and an Independent) and left 3 seats completely vacant for over a year because he just couldn't get around to naming appointees and/or Schumer couldn't be troubled with moving that through the confirmation process.
There is no legal issue whatsoever with the President asking potential appointees what there feeling is about the job DeJoy is doing. In fact, it would be gross negligence NOT to ask such questions. And if Biden rejected those who thought DeJoy was just fine, that is absolutely the President's prerogative.
Where do people keep coming up with this nonsense? The facts are right there in the charter of the USPS.
Stop defending this incompetence. On top of everything else we are dealing with, I now have packages stuck in sorting centers for well over a month because of DeJoy's actions to destroy the USPS. This was all 100% avoidable if Biden had just taken 2 hours sometime during his 4 years to screen some candidates, and Schumer has bot been a complete incompetent in his job.
