President Donald Trumps move to revoke New York Citys congestion pricing plan has sparked major backlash from state and local officials.
The Trump administration announced Wednesday that it would be revoking its approval of New York Citys congestion pricing program, which went into effect earlier this year. The move was met with immediate criticism from many New York officials, while some New Jersey officials praised it.
U.S. Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) ripped the Trump administration for the decision and threatened a legal battle, claiming that the Transportation Departments argument is utterly baseless and frankly, laughable.
I firmly believe that there is no legal basis for the President to unilaterally halt this program. The Value Pricing Program is solidly established under federal law, and its approval cannot be arbitrarily revoked, especially when it is clearly delivering tangible benefits. Mr. President, well see you in court, Nadler wrote on X.
