In 2012 I was an Obama field organizer in Dearborn Michigan. The Arab American community took me in as one of theirs -largely because I was a Democrat. All I know at this point is that the vast majority of that community is hurting enormously due to the loss of loved ones on a regular basis. My friend there warned me for weeks that Harris would lose Michigan and that the vast majority of polls were underestimating the enormity of the anger in Dearborn. I didnt believe him. People (myself included) just assumed they would go 70-80% for the Democrat like usual. That didn't happen. Dearborn is a place where most people either know somebody directly who has been killed in the conflict, or knows somebody who does.
When Trump took Dearborn, it should be a wake up call to all Democrats that our policy of providing Arms to Israel should be enormously re evaluated. For me, an organizer who saw these people give everything they had to elect Democrats and Obama, it was like a knife to my heart to see everything unfold as it has.
I dont know that calling pager bombs, and the increased displacement from 100,000 to 900,000 people in Lebanon 2 months before an election where Lebanese Americans will be crucial in deciding a major swing state is entirely"blaming Israel for the escalation," but I might be hard pressed not to be, given those attacks prior to that point from Israel seemed unprecedented, and the timing seems suspect.
I always do appreciate you, MarineCombatEngineer, and I appreciate your respect enormously. I try to stay out of these types of discussions these days because the emotional pain can tend to get the better of me. I also disagree with your opinion but respect you enormously.
