In reply to the discussion: the us should be banned form the world cup [View all]SergeStorms
(21,157 posts)103. I thought it was a ridiculous call....
in the first place. I could definitely see giving a yellow card, but a red card? That in itself was a political move, IMO.
But, that wax FIFA's decision and the U.S. should have lived with it.
Then "FIFA Peace Prize" winner, Donald Trump, calls FIFA headquarters and gets it overturned.
I can't blame the collective teams from around the world - and their fans - for being enraged. Trump is putting his tiny little thumb on the scale, trying to bring a WC championship to the U.S. (and undeservedly so).
Trump and FIFA are two peas in the same pod. Corrupt, greedy, and soon to fall. I hope. 😁

Would anyone watch basketball if the players only shot the ball ten times a game?

That circumstance will remain purely hypothetical: on an outside chance, the US might just be able to defeat . . .

Actually there should not be a red card. Let the players sort things out themselves.

Fuck FIFA. ,Fuck Trump. It's too bad, but the US team will now be thought of as an illegitimate competitor by many.

LOL. Expecting FIFA to do anything less than maximally corrupt and utterly shamelessly too.

If I were the US coach I'd bench the player with the red card for one match. I'd catch hell, but that's how

I agree that the red card was a bad call, but the president of a country has no business weighing in on something like
