31. I suspect Bondi refused to follow an illegal order from Trump that would have placed her in serious legal jeopardy.

Bondi's done a lot of deeply unethical and openly partisan things as AG, but arguably (in my view) she hadn't yet crossed that bright line into criminality. Like Jeff Sessions - who was fired because he recused himself from the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, and allowed the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller - Bondi was facing some hard choices on the Epstein investigation, and she probably wouldn't give in to Trump.
