(12,926 posts)Yes, herding Democrats is as tough as herding cats, but the magnitude of the heartbreak, chaos and destruction we are witnessing as the Christian Nationalists/Trumpublican's steadfastly defend the indefensible, immoral, corrupt, Un-American agenda the felon is hellbent on pursuing has done a pretty good job of bringing together a coalition of patriots who recognize the REAL enemy.
Perhaps I'm wrong, but I can't imagine there are many on either side of the fence who would cut off their noses to spite their face by withholding support if "their" candidate doesn't win the nomination.
Former Republicans, Independents, and Democrats are coming together in opposition. When the felon, co-conspirator Vance, and the entire criminal cabinet are either removed from office in 2027 or voted into oblivion in 2028, that coalition may retreat behind old dividing lines, but I'm not so sure. I think that the challenges to fundamental principles has shown many that there are a hell of a lot of shared aspirations that we can make progress on together, as engaged and caring citizens.
I am personally pulling for Talarico. He has been on my radar for years and I think he is a unique, and uniquely effective voice against Christian Nationalism at a time that Christian Nationalism poses an essential threat. That said, Jasmine Crockett is formidable candidate. For me, she embodies the sort of unapologetic determined, combative, moral, "unbought and unbossed" leadership Shirley Chisholm would be proud of. I have NO doubt that if she wins, James Talarico would get behind her 100%. And I would be shocked if she didn't do the same if he were to win.
And I also think there will be an unprecedented number of people putting in the hard work needed to make the day Ted Cruz "welcomes" the new Democratic Junior Senator to the Senate a reality.
And whoever the "loser" is, Ted Cruz is in deep shit because they will be going after him in 2030.
