A word on Crockett/Talarico

Whoever wins gets my dollars.
Whoever wins shall get every last vote that can be gotten in the midterms
Whoever wins needs the support of every freedom loving person in the United States of America.
Whoever wins doesn't need the PUMA or I didn't get my pony bullshit.

You back whichever candidate wins either with a vote if you're a Texan or with money if you're not.

If the runner up doesn’t support the winner strongly in the General, we’ll know they weren’t worthy of the top slot.

I'm in Houston. I've seen polls go back and forth, this one's wide open.

The good news I can give you, esp. if you're not a Texan, is that so far, we've had more people request blue ballots than red in this primary. That's pretty much unheard of down here.

we're not used to everyone asking for a dem ballot! Open primary here so that's exciting no matter who "wins". Taking on Paxton/Cornyn is the harder job, and we will need all hands on deck for sure.

you need to understand that what people do in other states is not always what people do here.

Yes, republicans do cross over to get the person they think is easiest to beat. And, yes, democrats will cross over to try to help get moderates through on the other side, so we don't end up with psychos in office.

BUT in this race, we do have activity on both sides. Cornyn/Paxton is a race, and Crockett/Talarico is a race. Republicans are favored regardless.

We have an almost even number of registered D and R voters in Pennsylvania, BUT we have an even larger percentage of independent voters. That means our closed primaries (for each race) are only showing part of the picture. In the primary voting, the independent voters are left out because they can't participate.

But those same indies will probably make the difference in the November election. It's hard to get them excited about either candidate. When they DO get excited, the independents and the once-in-a-while voters are the BIGGEST FACTOR of all. It's our Party's responsibility to choose the candidate that will bring in the outsiders, while holding onto the loyal insiders.

In the Texas primary for US Senator, both of the D candidates look to me like they could bring in the independent and occasional voters. However none of the R candidates look like they care enough to bother. I don't know, we'll see.

Best of luck to both Democrats!

The only thing you have to do is Texas is show up with your ID to vote in a primary, and state whether you wish to have the democratic or republican ballot. It doesn't mean you're "registered" or anything like that. They do publish it on the county website (they have separate spreadsheets for dem & repug), and it holds you to vote in that same party for any applicable run-off races a few months later. That's it. In the general you go back to your open ballot and vote how you want. Oh, and they send you lots of campaign postcards ... the next election - that's probably the most annoying part!

But you're absolutely correct that the primaries are usually low activity. A lot of folks not so involved in politics just sit it out and let the parties select their candidate. Then they show up in November, as you stated, and can make a big difference.

She said she flipped a coin because she couldn’t decide. Talarico won the coin toss. She said she’ll support the winner of the two.
Have I told y’all how scared I was when she moved to Lubbock and began her career in LE-that she would turn Republican? She is a civilian Sex Offender investigator.
She has become more vocal about politics in the past couple of years.
She took her 8 year old son with her to vote. They both had ‘I voted’ stickers on yesterday.

Somewhat weak in many areas. That stunt after Uvalde was almost performative with no follow up. Crockett brings fire to the table and Talarico appeals to those Texans who’ve been left behind.

Ancient mariner Cronyn and slime bag Paxton got nothing.
