In his latest podcast, Gov Newsom concedes to Ben Shapiro and walks back his office's post that that called ICE state-sponsored terrorism and agreed that if states just cooperate with ICE it would better for everyone.
Your press office tweeted out that it was state-sponsored terrorism, which, I mean governor, I just have to ask you about that. That sort of thing makes our politics worse, and it does, said Shapiro, to which Newsom responded, Yeah.
This is where he concedes that he cooperates with ICE:
He (Shapiro) questioned, Wouldnt best policy be to cooperate with ICE in the vast majority of cases so instead of ICE going to, as you say, churches and hospitals to pick people up, theyd be going to jailhouses? Thats exactly what they do in California. I mean, we have over 10,000 that Ive cooperated with since Ive been governor of California, claimed Newsom. We work very directly with ICE as it relates to CDCR state prison. California has cooperated with more ICE transfers probably than any other state in the country, and I have vetoed multiple pieces of legislation that have come from my legislature to stop the ability for the state of California to do that.
This on the heels of his push to ensure there are no taxes on billionaires in California, is not a good look and not where the majority of people seem to be at when it comes to things like this.
I am honestly shocked. I wanted to believe that Newsom could be the one, I really did but I just don't think he is our candidate in 2028.
P.S.
Platforming people like Shapiro is absolutely gross and absolutely unnecessary.

I think despite the protests we have a number of folks who prefer the Schumer approach.

Context. Sounds more like he walked back a general statement he made about ICE.
