(9,043 posts)31. I was thinking Elise Stefanik announced she was resigning (which could still happen)
rather than just announcing she will not run again. MTG has claimed there will be a bunch more leaving before November. There are 25 Republicans who have already announced they will not run for reelection but have not actually resigned (though some may still leave beforeNovember).
Current open seats are Lamalfa, Greene, Turner & Sherrill. Greene and LaMalfa special elections have not been set yet.

This district was redrawn with Prop 50. Shouldn't the special election be with the new map?

Then Gov. Newsom should leave the seat open until the Nov. elections so a Dem will win it as it's redrawn.

Cal. law requires Newsom to announce special election in 14 days, with election held within 126-140 days.
