absolutely painful and and bankrupting and heartbreaking for a large swath of the country if we are going to come out the other side with the national will to prevent it from ever happening again.

As you say, maybe things are worse because he lost in 2020. To which I say, sadly, that is probably necessary for any rising from the ashes in the long run.

The problem is, I think it's a razor's edge of whether we do rise from the ashes or we do not.
