There was no similar event with Venezuela. Drugs entering the country are dealt with by intercepting them, not regime change in a country that probably is not even high on a ranked list of the source of drugs.

In 2001, the invasion of Afghanistan was polled as being favored by 90 percent of the country. The invasion later of Iraq was favored by around half of that based on W's lies. So soon after 9/11, the fear generated by claiming Iraq had WMD was high for people who both believed Iraq was a terrorist state and possessed them.

There was no similar fear of Venezuela, which did not retaliate after we blew up boats in their water or international waters.
