I have a checking account in a different bank than the one I use for general purposes. I use that account for ALL online financial transactions. I transfer funds to it, as needed, and move money that comes to it to other accounts immediately. So, there's typically little money in that account that can be taken from me without any action on my part.

A number of businesses and government agencies deposit to that online access account automatically. All subscriptions and other regular bills that are paid automatically also use only that account. I visit the account once a day to check on activity in it. As far as outside organizations and businesses know, that is my bank account. I'm very careful about that.
