A 2nd Reminder [View all]

Older forum members may recall that yesterday I posted a brief essay on Saturday's rallies. It was titled A Reminder, and although yesterday was seemingly a long time ago, it still exists. But I'd like to update a few things.
I mentioned a good friend who loves to argue. On Sunday he was telling me that no rally or march accomplishes anything. He was making fun of me for standing out in the cold rain for two hours. He had asked me why I would do anything that stupid? I said I did it for his family.
My west coast brother sent me the article linked above. I sent the link to my friend, and many, many more people. My friend wrote back, Okay, this shows I was wrong when I said rallies do no good. They wouldn't be trying to outlaw them otherwise.
On the thread of yesterday's OP, my good friend moniss noted that there is a need for civil disobedience. I expressed my opinion that as we continue on this path, non-violent civil disobedience will come round. It appears that it might sooner than I anticipated.
This country needs a citizen-lead movement. Our political system has been corrupted, and we need to draw the line on the denial of Amendment 1 rights. We have the models of Martin Luther King, Jr., Cesar Chavez, and Dolores Hueta. And as we go forward, there will be grassroots collective leadership rising up across the country. And this will strengthen the leadership we are seeing from some in the House and Senate.
