Wouldn't be surprised if his information has been heavily edited before it gets to him.

Even the toady *rump put in charge of Joint Chiefs was somewhat qualified and wouldn't intentionally waste resources and manpower on stupid and petulant political adventures with the military.

Especially when it's increasingly obvious we're going to be standing alone if we do.
