It was the lead story in the online NYT with several sub stories. I assume it won't stay as number one because there are several other stories that are also generating outrage, because they should.
One that I hope gets more coverage is an incredible story of a young Tufts graduate student from Turkey kidnapped by ICE and against genic orders from a MA judge not to send people detained out of state without some due process sent to Louisiana. She was legally here to study, which she was doing, and she did absolutely nothing illegal. She was one of the people who wrote an oped that spoke of respect for all people. I wonder if this might be the best case for us to try to use because it is impossible to defend ICE's action.
Trump's tariffs are being labeled, not just bad for the economy and our relations with other countries, but there timing is said to be an attempt to change the topic.
Stories about the cancelling of food aid authorized by Congress to food banks.
The cancelling grants for research including medical studies.
Just hearing the headlines suggests a government trying to destroy our moral position, technological position, and our economic power. These are not things anyone would do if they wanted America to be a good place to live and work or to be respected in the world.
