(39,498 posts)I can’t even imagine Biden being in this big of a fuck up and being this ignorant of it. I think Trump is pretending to be ignorant of it, but he’s very good at that

It's as if heritage creeps got tsf elected & he agreed to turn givrrnance over to them.
I believe that's what we are seeing.

(60,198 posts)Add in that Vance is blaming Europe for not doing it themselves, ignoring that they had made the decision that instead paying to ship goods around the tip of Africa made more sense.
The NYT has a good article today that references that Saudi Arabia, their powerful neighbor was unable to defeat the Houthis, who they fought for years and the US targeted them after they attacked ships during the Biden administration. Israel has also attacked Yemen.

(60,198 posts)In Trump's first term, he send a bomber to crater runways at a Syrian airstrip after chemical gas was used. He then had a victory round claiming to the media that Obama lost influence because he opted not to bomb Syria after they "crossed his red line".
In reality, the runways were easily fixed within a week or two. As to Obama, the final action of his team was that Kerry and Lavrov negotiated the removal and destruction of Assad's large stockpile of chemical weapons. Which had the larger effect? Yet the media STILL spoke of how this diminished Obama's strength.

(1,157 posts)Are you talking about cable drivel? That just finds the shiny object of the day.
Unfortunately most get their news from it.
RJ-MacReady
(335 posts)Opposite in fact. A very low % of people watch cable news today and that includes Fox.

(1,157 posts)And actually a lot of the latest breaking news on this site.
So where is the majority of america getting their news?

(12,001 posts)But of course they won’t. On to the next outrage, taking the bait. Media is as complicit as the traitorous Rs in Congress in enabling and sanewashing.
I’m spending more time on YouTube than ever CHOOSING what I feel is important because I’m sick of mainstream media telling me repeatedly to just move on.

The media can ask about Rep Crockett - but it is what it is -
And oh by the way - Signal Gate.

(60,198 posts)It was the lead story in the online NYT with several sub stories. I assume it won't stay as number one because there are several other stories that are also generating outrage, because they should.
One that I hope gets more coverage is an incredible story of a young Tufts graduate student from Turkey kidnapped by ICE and against genic orders from a MA judge not to send people detained out of state without some due process sent to Louisiana. She was legally here to study, which she was doing, and she did absolutely nothing illegal. She was one of the people who wrote an oped that spoke of respect for all people. I wonder if this might be the best case for us to try to use because it is impossible to defend ICE's action.
Trump's tariffs are being labeled, not just bad for the economy and our relations with other countries, but there timing is said to be an attempt to change the topic.
Stories about the cancelling of food aid authorized by Congress to food banks.
The cancelling grants for research including medical studies.
Just hearing the headlines suggests a government trying to destroy our moral position, technological position, and our economic power. These are not things anyone would do if they wanted America to be a good place to live and work or to be respected in the world.

(36,028 posts)They don’t NEED to see the encrypted messages. All they need to find out something is up is to see groupings of high level Trump Administration flunkies are on and active. They have other mechanisms to fill in the blanks. Intel-fusion is only a foreign concept to the Turd Reich.
