18. My "land" dream has been much smaller than yours...

I always wanted to buy a house on about 5 acres of land, undeveloped. Use some of it as a critter rescue, and leave the rest just woods to walk through and meet the local wildlife. A garden in a nice sunny spot would be really cool, too. I'm doing the Aero-hydro thing, because I have TONS of trees in this little bitty lot. No sunshine hits the ground in a good enough spot for a garden. It's all shade... which does make the yard tons cooler in the summer, tho.

One of the things I've noticed since retiring 3 years ago, is I'm at loose ends most of the day. I mean, I didn't trade in the day-in/day-out routine of paid work, just to do housecleaning, unpaid, day-in and day-out. My physical issues limit a lot of what I can do. But I also notice I get lonesome and lonely much of the time. I was always such a go-getter at work... pulling meetings together, constant contact with instructors and students, out-of-country computer help calls. I didn't realize how much people contact I had in a day, until it was no more. And I find now, I miss being around them -- a very few at a time, of course. And no idiots! Hubby and I can say we are definitely growing older together - as I yell and answers me back "What did you say?" Funny how we always hears trump name come up in a sentence, tho! (LOL)
