We do not know if it is an empty threat.

It is quite naive and even foolish to dismiss Trump's rantings out of hand.

I used to write reports with risk assessments to determine if people were likely to follow through
on threats and were indeed dangerous.

You gather your data and make a judgement.

Let's look at the facts, data, evidence.

1. Trump has aligned with the world's autocrats. Russia has invaded Ukraine for "national security" reasons.
China plans to do the same with Taiwan for the same stated and bogus reason.

2. Trump is a psychopath and believes everything in the world belongs to him.
From a psychological standpoint he is quite capable of believing other countries belong to him and taking action.

3. The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. We could write a book about all the things Trump has stolen that do not belong to him.

4. Trump is a long time drug user, mentally ill, and has dementia. He is capable of making bad decisions, being impulsive, and doing outlandish things.

6. Trump is very dangerous and quite capable of carrying out these plans. I don't know if he will actually do it,
but his psych profile indicates he certainly could follow through on his plans.
