I know a number of germaphobes who never shake hands. They fist bump or apologize or at least acknowledge the other person and explain themselves.

Could be race or gender, but certainly could be specific - she ran against Donnie, who likely is their exalted hero.

To be fair, I wouldn't shake Donnie's hand either, though I'd probably be even more obvious about it, turn my back or something....
