DOJ Accidentally Gave Congress 'Damning Evidence' Against Trump, Jamie Raskin Says

(Huff Post) President Donald Trump took classified documents related to his private business interests from the White House in 2021, according to materials the Justice Department apparently provided to the House Judiciary Committee. “These new disclosures suggest that Donald Trump stole documents so sensitive that only six people in the entire U.S. government had access to them, that the documents President Trump stole pertained to his business interests, and that Susie Wiles, then the CEO of Donald Trump’s super PAC, witnessed President Trump showing off a classified map to passengers on his private plane,” Raskin said.

Chances of a Federal Reserve rate cut fade as inflation worsens

(AP) The jump in gas prices stemming from the war in Iran has had another impact that may also affect many Americans’ finances: Higher interest rates. Longer-term interest rates have risen quickly since the war began Feb. 28, pushing up the cost of mortgage loans, auto loans, and business borrowing. And with inflation measures likely to rise in the coming months, the prospect of interest rate cuts this year by the Federal Reserve is fading. Wall Street investors instead see the odds rising of an actual rate hike instead.

ICE at airports: Trump's troll move backfires

(Salon) Trump is inflicting harm on plenty of his own voters, and at a time when he’s already losing support from large chunks of the electorate that took a chance on him in 2024. Republicans are already expecting heavy losses in November’s midterm elections, and having a president who is actively making air travel hellish will likely only make it worse.

Trump's Thinly Disguised Contempt for His Own Voters

(Raw Story) While the less than 20% of Americans who identify as MAGA Republicans continue to support nearly every decision Donald Trump makes, his “contempt” for his most loyal supporters “is getting worse,” argued writer Amanda Marcotte in an analysis published Tuesday. “To Trump and his top brass, like Vance, feeling like they owe anything to anybody, especially to the red-hat yokels who got them into office, is insulting,” Marcotte wrote on her Substack. “Their resentment at their own voters for actually expecting results is getting worse, and that’s starting to be reflected in policy choices.”

Trump to ease smog rules on summer gasoline to bring down prices, sources say

(Reuters) The Trump administration is expected to announce as soon as Wednesday that it will temporarily lift federal smog-cutting ‌restrictions on summer-blend gasoline to curb rising energy prices stemming from the war on Iran, according to two sources familiar with the matter. The move would make gasoline cheaper by not forcing refiners and retailers to switch to more costly summer blends. The U.S. normally switches to summer gasoline blends to reduce air pollution. These blends have lower volatility, limiting evaporation that can contribute to smog in warmer weather.
