made the election of African Americans to Congress in the South possible. Just look at the lack of African Americans from the south in Congress from the time reconstruction ended to the 1965 Voting Rights Act. That's now being taken away. Illinois is clearly a northern, more progressive state. Targeting African Americans is just the first step. The far right doesn't like women or working people having the right to vote either.
