Garland was not attorney general and nobody in the Biden administration was in office. It was on January 7 that Biden announced that he was appointing Garland as AG and taking such a bold stance at that time probably would have tanked him during the nomination process.

It's also Fani Willis, not Fanny (that's a slur used by MAGA folk).
