5. I think that some seniors actually are doing that--

Medical science has done wonders to lengthen life, but for many people, it is more like lengthening death-- living on but sick and in pain for years. It is not irrational to decide to accelerate the process in that sort of situation. It's not like you can avoid death in the end anyway.

But it is sad to think of people literally dying of loneliness.
