Couple other thoughts:
- IIRC, Wilt led league in assists on year with Lakers. He looked around at West, Goodrich, and Hairston and decided he didn't need to score much. That's how good he was.
- My dad met George Mikan in the early 50s. Just an add cuz Mikan was in the conversation
- The Celtics true greatness was essentially based on Auerbach being so much smarter & more progressive than the other guys running teams. Just think, they're in the finals, then they get to draft Havlicek! College player of year, I think. They win, win, win, and still manage to get the best new kid. Somebody got smoked by Auerbach, again.
