He's easily in my top 5 ever, but he's not #1 on my list.
For me, it's defense & rules.
LeBron made 4 all defensive first teams & 1 second team. The last time he made either was y years ago.
By contrast, Jordan made all-defensive first team each of his last 8 years with the Bulls and one 2nd team prior. He also won defensive player of the year, WHILE leading the league in scoring.
While I don't doubt LeBron would have flourished in the 80s & 90s, despite the rough play, I reverse the lens.
What would Jordan be doing against defenses the way it has to be played today? 36ppg instead of 31? 55% shooting instead of 50%?
MJ, LeBron, Magic, Wilt, Kareem, Bird.... and others are worthy of top 10.
The order is a matter of opinion.
