2. I don't think that is unusual. I've had it happen with parents and in-laws over the years.

My mother-in-law had a wonderful conversation with MY grandmother. She'd only met her once before we were married and that had been over 30 years before. She didn't have Alzheimer's, but was in the process of end-of-life issues.

Same with my father, husband and my husband's aunt.

In a strange way, it can be comforting.

It is hard to lose our parents and there definitely is a process we have to go through.
