I was six, and in kindergarten, and my Mom and aunt took myself and my cousin to see The Poseidon Adventure. Hardly material for a child that age, but I thought the boat capsizing part was really cool.

He had a long career as a serious actor and then completely re-invented himself as a comedy icon. Not an easy feat to be sure.
