I don't want to spoil the movie, didn't even know it existed till I saw the teaser, I grew up on Bradbury, Asimov, Clarke, Brown, etc but when they started going to "Hard" Sci-Fi" I lived in Alaska and fell off the genre for a few decades.

Cool that there is a series, something to read in sunnier months, just picked up Crichtons "Dragon Teeth" today, the only one of his I haven't read yet, that man knew how to tell a tale.
