I know that my mother always wished we'd get along better, so the least I can do is make an effort - and my brother, who lived with her, is pretty much alone now except for his dog. I actually think he prefers it that way, he's never been very sociable, but he's always quite chatty when I stop by and he does go out of his way on my birthday and Christmas.

I have two cousins who I'm fairly close to - my Dad and my mother each had one sister and each had one daughter. One has also brothers, but none of us have sisters, so it's been nice to have each other. The only thing is that one now lives in Connecticut and the other always lived in Colorado so it's not exactly easy to get together. The youngest looks at things much the same way you do - she had a little girl who they pretty much doted on but decided to have a second child - another little girl - so she wouldn't be an only child. It sounds like they get along about as well as my brother and I did, but if we can change, anybody can...
