The hatred being vented by extremists and fundies always fuels the targets of each other's hatred. It is a vicious circle of hatred and self-righteousness. The holier-than-thou and the athier-than-thou , the smarter-than-thou, the less-deluded-than-thou.

Self-righteousness is the sin.
