many gun owners even if they disavow the organization politically. The marketing messages of fear have been driven home on so many different levels that the Big Lie has become fact for many of the American gun culture.

This same marketing tactic was used by the same extreme right-wing beginning in the 80s to demonize "Liberals" and to make even the word itself a slur.

The Lee Atwater right-wing marketing plan has been highly successful in these regards.
